Located on a meander of the Dordogne River, in the heart of the prestigious appellation of Saint-Emilion, Chateau de Lescours is situated in a park of 50 hectares and boasts a vineyard of 7.5 hectares.
The vines are planted on a sandy gravel soil from the Quaternary period.
Château de Lescours wines are produced with Saint-Emilion’s typical grapes varieties:
- Merlot : 80 %
- Cabernet Sauvignon : 10 %
- Cabernet Franc : 10 %
The average age of our vines is 45 years and one plot features century-old vines. We spend a lot of time watching and trying to understand the vineyard, in order to give our vines our best care.
All the work done in the vineyard aims at placing the grapes in the best possible conditions to reach optimum maturity year after year.
Environment is very important for us, that is why we integrate the principles of sustainable agriculture.
Once the grapes have reached maturation, they are harvested mechanically, selected and crushed. Château de Lescours is vinified in concrete vats, as it is a very good thermal insulator.
L de Lescours, our special cuvée, is vinified with the oldest vines in the vineyard.
After the fermentations, the ageing starts in new oak barrels for about 12 months.
The blending is made a few months before the bottling.
