The Cuvier
The building dates from the 19th century. It was built by the Lursalus family, owners of Château Yquem in Sauternes. The winery was subsequently modified to achieve its current appearance.
The vat room was created in the early 1950s. It consists of 19 concrete vats and 2 stainless steel vats. Pierre Chariol kept his concrete vats, traditional in Saint-Emilion, for the two major advantages that this material offers: thermal inertia and microporosity.
These tanks are equipped with thermoregulation which allows the temperature of the wine to be managed, particularly during vinification.

The barrel cellar
After the alcoholic and malolactic fermentations, part of the vintage is descended into barrels (25% new barrels) for aging for 12 months.
At Lescours are represented 5 coopers whose barrels bring different aromas to each batch. The assembly of the whole gives complexity to our Saint-Emilion Grand Cru and takes place one month before bottling.
In 2000, Pierre Chariol created a special cuvée, the L de Lescours, produced from the oldest vines of the estate and aged exclusively in new barrels. Pierre does not make this label every year.
