The vineyard

Saint-Emilion are blended wines (exclusively red) made from traditional Bordeaux grape varieties where Merlot represents around 60% of the vineyards grape varieties, alongside Cabernet Franc (30%), Cabernet Sauvignon and more rarely Malbec, Petit Verdot and Caménère.

Vignoble Saint Emilion

Located in a meander of the Dordogne, in the heart of the prestigious Saint-Émilion Appellation, the Château de Lescours is located in the middle of an 80-hectare park.

The vineyard extends over nearly 8 hectares in the Saint-Emilion Grand Cru appellation. It is planted on a soil of sand and gravel.

As for the other 72 hectares, they correspond to a wetland ecosystem whose biodiversity Pierre CHARIOL wishes to preserve. Its goal: to encourage the arrival of birds, and the reproduction of many local species (plant and animal).

Faithful to its principles and its desire to respect the environment, the estate now practices sustainable agriculture. Weeding under the vines is entirely mechanical.

The Château de Lescours is also evolving in its practices using new biotechnologies: the use of insecticides is now limited thanks to the establishment of sexual confusion in the vines.

The average age of the vineyard is 50 years, with a parcel of the property having vines dating back more than a century.

The wines of Château de Lescours (production of approximately 45,000 bottles per year) are produced from typical Saint-Émilion grape varieties: : 80% Merlot; 10% Cabernet Sauvignon; 10% Cabernet Franc.
